How to install APK on Android

I take advantage of the round to fix mobiles that I am doing to explain and document many actions that friends and family usually ask me. In this case I explain how to install APK applications on Android.

I go straight to the point, if you want to know what an APK is and when you may need to install one, go to the end of the article.

In my case I will reinstall Play Store that works badly on a mobile that we will use without SIM for my father-in-law to play. I can not open it, or even factory reset and I find it much faster to install the application directly than to see what happens to the smartphone or flash it.

Build Rosetta and Philae with your children

If you want to spend a weekend teaching your child more about space, astronomy, science and aeronautics, I let you a collection of resources that ESA (European Space Agency) has hung for teachers and children.

You can take advantage of the fact that the subject is not very old to introduce to your child. That an object has been sent from the earth to a comet at 500 million km and that it travels at 60,000 km / h because it has to impress you. Well, this is what the Rosetta Mission has done with the Philae probe.

Wooden outdoor games

Large wooden maze that has to be moved between 2 people

I met twice this year with classic wooden outdoor games and activities for children during events at village parties. They are games made of wood, very basic and simple things that they love. Some to play alone and others to do it in pairs or as a team.

I want to ride some for summer so I can play with my daughters and my nephews, taking advantage of wood that we have that are being spoiled by having outdoors. This article is a compilation of those that I have been able to take pictures and those that I remember. There was one day that there were so many people that I couldn’t take pictures. In all games we can make many variations of both rules and variations in construction. The notes are as a reminder.

SIM card sizes. How to cut a SIM card

SIM card Sizes. SIM, mini SIM, micro SIM and nano SIM — Wikimedia

This is a modification I made a long time ago, when I bought my old Nexus 4 and I needed to cut the SIM card. It may seem outdated because most new cards come precut but the truth is that many of us still have old cards and we can save a few dollars and with this hack.

And we will also use the article to talk and explain the sizes of the SIM cards.

I receive my Nexus 4 from Google. I’m going to try it and I realize that it uses micro SIM 🙁

The logical solution is to go for a duplicate SIM card, but they charge $5 (yes, it was free before) So you have to find a homemade solution and this happens to cut the card at home to convert the mini SIM into Micro SIM.

Aireless Tires wheels

Non-pneumatic heavy machinery Tweel wheels

This is one of those topics that I like even if it is not a DIY. It is not topical, since it has been talking about this type of airless wheels or non-pneumatic wheels for a few years, I think since 2002 approximately.

If you have never seen a wheel of this style it will impact you especially when you watch some videos and discover what they are capable of withstanding. I leave one for you to enter into matter. It’s from Michelin Tweel wheels.

How to start a beehive into a glass jar

We have already seen how to make a DIY beehive and now I leave a modification or extension that we can make to a hive as a curiosity. The idea is to get a honeycomb in a jar or glass bell.

It is a very interesting science activity to show children. Although I have seen this product for sale, here I present it in a didactic way as a way to teach children and adults the ins and outs of hives.

How to make

I collect this information because the original page where it was published and that it linked no longer has the article.

The technique is very simple although we need to have a hive, of course.

Place a bell, with strips of the hive so that the bees begin their work.

How to make gel ice packs

You do sports? No? Well, surely you know someone who does and that comes full of bruises, overloads, etc. and that they say the sport is good 😉

The other day after a long workout, I came home with knee pain. At home I had a 3M cold and hot gel pack but why buy a bag if we can make it?
